Ecclesiastical Calendar & Lectionary

LECTIO CONTINUA

This abbreviated Lectionary contains Continuous Readings of the Scriptures (Lectio Continua). By using this Lectionary for the Masses for every Sunday of the year, the entirety of the Holy Gospels and of several Epistles, as well as a large number of Psalms, and important Readings from the Old Testament, may be read out in Mass each year. The Anthems are the Alleluia-Anthems of the Eight Tones, which are incorporated in the Ordinary of the Mass. The Proper Readings for fasts & feasts provided in our Church Calendar and Lectionary always may be read instead of these Lections. On Major Feasts of the year, in particular, the feast's Proper Readings should be the day's Lections.
